2020 Season Wrap-Up
Updated on 06/10/2022 | Coach Adams
The Wayland Wildcats Men's Tennis team wrapped up the 2020 Fall Season with their awards assembly on Wednesday, Nov. 11th. The team celebrated finishing the season tied for 4th in the OK Gold Conference, tying with GR South Christian and Cedar Springs with a conference record of 3-4.
As with many things in 2020, the fall tennis season was full of uncertainty. There was the challenge of staying healthy during a pandemic, developing skills while practicing social distancing, game cancellations, date changes, mask wearing, staying positive in the face of a tough OK Gold Conference schedule and bringing positivity to each match, regardless of the opponent. But, as in life, Uncertainty provides Opportunity, and Champions learn to be calm during the storm, and sharpen their focus on what needs to be done. This team proved that week after week from August to October.
Congratulations to our award winners for the Season:
All-Conference: Christian Sieffert
Most Improved: Andrew Murphy
MVP(s): Brady Atwell and Elijah Kincaid
Captain's Award: Jackson Chesley
Most Dedicated: Chase Robinson
Coach Benyo and I look forward to the 2021 season, as we will return many players with great skills and more experience. Enjoy your winter and good luck to the athletes that are moving on to other sports! See you in 2021.
