CoEd Varsity Bowling vs. Lowell HS School

Wayland Men's Bowling make the qualifying brackets in their first tournament of the year!

Saturday was an eventful day for the Wildcat men. The men and women's teams returned to Ionia Lanes for the Lowell Invitational that the talented Wildcats swept last year.

The Wayland men's team found themselves in 3rd place after two individual games. Lanes 3 and 4 challenged the next set of Baker games and we knew we had fallen in the standings. Coming back strong on lanes 5 and 6 gave us a 5th place finish and the top 6 were to make the cut. Tournament directors instead chose the top 8 teams there were so many tight matches. Fifth seeded Wayland were scheduled to bowl against the fourth place team, Greenville. Unfortunately, we were directed to bowl on lanes 3 and 4 that we struggled with earlier. We definitely didn't have that pair of lanes figured out and lost the first Baker match. Our men rebounded back and took the second Baker match easily. Unfortunately, the pin total for the two games wasn't in our favor and our tournament day ended.

Christian Courser 164 & 163 and also marked in 12 of 16 Baker frames

Mark Musgrave III 145 and also marked in 9 of 16 Baker frames

Joe Laidler 162 & 181 and also marked in 13 of 16 Baker frames

Jarod Geerligs 178 & 181 and also marked in 9 of 16 Baker frames

Dillon Smith 194 & 202 and also marked in 14 of 16 Baker frames.

I think our lady cats finished 8th out of 16 teams.

Congratulations to our seniors Dillon Smith and Amber Beggs who qualified in the top ten, making their first all tournament team this year. Dillon Smith finished 7th and Amber Beggs finished 5th.
