On Friday the Wildcats traveled to Eastland Bowl in Kalamazoo. We didn't bowl well and didn't make the cut, but we didn't finish last either. Freshman Bella Harnish finished 18th for the ladies out of probably 80 girls. We also got some bad news today as we lost our anchor, Amber Beggs, for a minimum of two weeks due to severe and extremely painful muscle spasms in her back (we hope that is all it is!) As a coach, it just feels like there is a bad spell on our teams this year.
Saturday at Westgate in Grand Rapids was a rough day as well, but the shot was much better and the kids seemed happier. We had a fun day today even with some low scores. Highlights for the boys was Dillon Smith's 237 game and the team Baker game of 211. Even though we lost by only a few pins, it was fun bowling with our friends from Caledonia and made it quite a match! Sophomore Alan Beggs had a solid day marking in 10 out of 12 Baker frames! It should be noted that our anchor had 5 out of 6 strikes in the last two Baker games with that aching chipped bone in his drive foot. It didn't help it feel any better when his bad foot was ran over by another player's bowling bag on wheels.
We stay busy with upcoming matches on Monday and Tuesday against Unity Christian and Thornapple Kellogg.
