The Wildcats Boys Tennis team met the Cedar Springs Red Hawks at their home courts on Thursday. This is the 2nd match this week against a “Hawk” team (Hawkeyes and Red Hawks), and the Wildcats are 1-1 vs. Hawks. Wayland came away victorious against a young Cedar Springs team - 7-1.
Notable victories went to Dawson Babiak, Spencer Miller, and Brycen Rookus, all collecting their first Varsity wins for Wayland Union. Great job guys! Also to Isaiah Gates, who stepped up at the last minute to play Cedar’s exhibition player and won his match 6-3, 6-4.
Another notable win went to Chesney Hudson and Brayden Tomson, winning their match 6-0, 6-0, bringing their record for the season to 2-0. Jacob VanDuine also remains 2-0 at 3rd singles.
All positions played well and the team is starting to shake off their early season jitters and find their pace. There’s plenty more tennis on the way, with Coopersville and Lowell next week. Great job Wayland Tennis!
