The Wayland Union Boys Tennis Team took on a diminished Kelloggsville team on Thursday night amid the heat and humidity.  At first singles, Christian Sieffert Took on Matt Zaire and came away with a 6-0, 6-2 victory. Jackson Chesley took his opponent at 2nd singles, 6-2, 6-1 and Andrew Murphy rounded out the singles flights with a victory at 3rd singles 6-2, 6-2.  There was only one doubles match that afternoon and it was a battle to the end for Elijah Kincaid and Brady Atwell.  They took the first set 6-3, but then Kelloggsville battled back and took the 2nd set 3-6, which forced a 10-point tie-breaker.  It was close to the end, 2-3, 3-4, 6-7, 8-9.  But, with Elijah Kincaid serving for the win, Wayland came through to take the last point and close out the tie-breaker 10-8.  Great job Wildcats!  With that win, the team finishes the week undefeated, both in team overall scoring AND individual flight results.  Not one Wildcat tennis player lost a match this week!!  Tougher matches lay ahead as the team begins the OK Gold Conference schedule in September.
