Wildcat Boys Tennis Victorious In First Home Quad Meet!

Game Date
Sep 11, 2021

On Saturday, 9/11/2021, the Wayland Union Boys Varsity Tennis team hosted Hastings, Otsego, and Plainwell at their home courts for a quad meet.  Each team was to play each other in round robin format, gathering one point for each victory.  Great tennis was played on all courts at the facility during the match, and fans were not lacking in skill levels to watch.

Overall, the Wildcats came away with 20 points out of a possible 24 to take the overall tournament victory.  Individually, Wayland claimed Flight Champion medals at 2nd Singles (Jackson Chesley), 3rd Singles (Andrew Murphy), 4th Singles (Nolan Ritz), 2nd Doubles (Mark Musgrave, Austin Graham), 3rd Doubles (Cam Sieffert, Theo Oddy), and 4th Doubles (Carson Beck, Garrett Spoor).  1st Doubles (Elijah Kincaid and Brady Atwell) took Flight Runner Up honors.  The Wildcats had an exceptional day, no doubt, but one of the players had an extraordinary day!  At 4th Singles, Nolan Ritz had a perfect day - not losing 1 single game in 3 matches. He managed to win all of his matches 6-0 6-0!!  That's 36 straight games won!  Great Job Nolan!

This is the type of tournament that the community of Wayland built these courts for, and that tennis fans in Wayland deserve.  The coaches from visiting schools, fans and players all comment on how nice the facility is and that they would like to be back again.  Tennis is a great sport to come out and watch on a beautiful, late- spring day!

With that day complete, the Wildcats head into the teeth of the OK Gold Conference season, facing Grand Rapids Catholic Central, Cedar Springs, TK and Forrest Hills Eastern all in the next 10 days!!
